Technically, I'd dig into the ocean, have it spill into the lawn and absolutely RUIN the gardens! LOL!

In reality you probably only own the surface rights to the land you are on (mineral rights are sold separately); theoretically you would own down to the center of the earth. Course, you would burst in to flame before you got that far.... but have fun digging!

Well, If only 2 people are possible to be completely opposite each other, then that means the land would be divided in half. SO, unless you live i na canyon, on a mountain, or the depth of ownership is stated in your contract, I would say that the core (which neither of you own) is the dividing point.
(Therefore that man is right)

No matter what, the Government owns the property!

See Eminent Domain.

Heehee...good question! I am from Siberia, which is exactly on the other end of the earth, so if I wound up there, I could technically say it's my land too!

Guess this question doesn't really apply to me...

only to the center of the Earth

there is a TON of mineral rights when you think of it, molten iron and heat from that

maybe we could sell it

and the air rights too, tolls for airplanes usuing it and there is Nitrogen IN THE AIR, we could get it out of the air and sell that

You don't. In the USA the USA owns the ground (mineral rights) under the top.

I would say if you dig to the core, from that point onward it is not your property.
