Who said it was? It's a bad thing and so are many more. Lying per se isn't a good thing unless it's white lie or an innocent joke.

Lying to gain anything is not right. How can you feel good about yourself if everything you have in life is gained through lies? and what will you do when you are found out?
You should look into "compulsive lying" and understanding the need for recognition.
All that the lying tells of YOU is that you are insecure, and need a position to feel good about yourself, while inside you are really not liking yourself much at all.
Besides if you are lying to gain power, you more then likely have NO IDEA what the position entails, so you will mess up, and be found out eventually. Unless you have someone else who DESERVES the position doing your work for you, you will fail.
Fess up! come clean! And gain respect the right way! Power isn't everything, usually if someone craves power, they also like having people FEAR them, and where does that stem from?? you have a LOT of questions to ask yourself!
And if my answer hits a nerve, I may be right!!

i don t think so. you wanna get where you want in no time so just do anything you can for it.
just do it with brain and some integrity. there a mix of both....
