Your teacher will get 100 papers about presidents, leaders, cops and firefighters.... my advice is to pick the most random person you can that means something to YOU and write about how heroism is a sujective concept, open to interpretation by each individual.

First you need to define hero so you know where you're going to look. Someone well known? Actors? Sports Stars?
Someone who has impacted politics? John Henry, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln?
Someone who has invented something? Thomas Edison (lightbulb and many others) Ben Franklin, Wright brothers (airplanes), Lindenburg?
Someone who has called others to a higher standard? Lottie Moon, Nick Saint, Dwight Moody, Billy Graham?
Any of these can be found on the internet or in the library.
Or someone who's making a difference in your own community. The local fire chief. The people who work at the crisis pregnancy center. The police dispatcher. The best nurse at the local hospital. A local doctor who spends his vacation in third world countries providing free services to poor people. Who runs the local soup kitchen?
These people you have to ask your parents, neighbors, or teachers about.

Try Audie Murphy. He was America's most decorated World War II soldier and became a famous film star afterwards starring in dozens of cowboy and war films. Look him up on Wikipedia.
