60 + 8 + 1/10 + 3/100
68 + 10/100 + 3/100
68 + 13/100
68 13/100 or 68.13

(6 x 10^1) = 60
(8 x 10^0) = 8
(1 x 10^-1) = 1/10 = 0.1
(3 x 10^-2) = 3/100 = 0.03
60 + 8 + 0.1 + 0.003 = 68.13

When you multiply a number by a power of ten, you move the decimal place the number of times that corresponds to the exponent: to the left if the exponent is negative, to the right if the exponent is positive. An exponent of -3 means move the decimal point three spaces to the left, leaving you with .0012. For the second number, an exponent of -5 means move the decimal point five spaces to the left, leaving you with .00004. When you divide these numbers, you get 30. To write a number as a power of ten (scientific notation), you simply put the decimal point after the first digit, write in all other non-zero digits after the decimal point, and multiply by 10^x, where x=the number of times you'd need to move the decimal point until you ended up with the number written in "normal" numerical notation. In this case, you have 3x10^1, because starting with 3.0, you move the decimal place one time to the right.

Never mind. Go with 68,13. It has to be because 6x10 is 60, obviously.
As far as I can tell. I'm no mathematician.
