We need to know what are the first steps to getting sponsors to support our magazines or where can I go to get information on starting up a magazine?

Start with the printer you'll be using. If it's someone local, check out the sizes and the papers they've got available, what kind of production run they can do, see if they can do glossy covers or card stock covers, and how much lead time they need for an issue. Also if they work in color, and what the minimum order is that you get a good price break at.

Then line up your writers, photographers, editors, reviewers, etc. Without something pretty much most of the way organized, you won't get many sponsors.

If this is too big a job, you CAN downsize it to a newsletter. You save on costs.

I know someone who did color comic books--32 pages, standard size. For a print run of 1,000 all printed, stapled, etc. it cost them $2,500 cash up front. Know how much this is going to cost before hand so you don't get sticker shock.
