I have a pentium 4 computer. It works well but will shut down unexpectedly. It will run fine and then can shut down 4 times after that. I have to turn off the power and then turn it on and start up the computer. I am at a loss why this keeps happening. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

My guess is that it is over heating.

Blow any dust out of the case. Also, leave the panel off and turn on the computer and see if the fan on your CPU is spinning. If it's not you'll need to replace it. Most computers have a safeguard that if it reaches a certain temperature it shuts off to keep the cpu from overheating.

Could be overheating. Clean all vents especially the fan vents with an air duster (can of compressed air). Also switch off, unplug and do the same cleaning inside. Good luck

Could be a heating issue.
Could be a driver issue.

Open the case and use a can of compressed air to blow it out, if it is very dusty.

See if that works, otherwise, try booting in safe mode and updating your drivers.
