You have to realise the USA needs the other countries both for suport and business. The USA is a great country you might not think so because of your circumstances.

We get the support we pay for. It is also cheaper to send a country a few million dollars than it is to solve the problems that would be caused by us not sending the money.
Look at all those conservatives whining about Mexicans coming to America and taking away all those migrant farmworker jobs that nobody here wants. And yet they don't want to send a few million dollars to Mexico so that the Mexican economy improves to the point where the immigrants don't want to leave. I wish that there were Republicans out there capable of adding 1 plus 1 and coming up with something other than "it is all Bill Clinton's fault".

You can't pin the blame all on Bush. Our country has been giving away money for decades. But I do agree with you in that things need to be fixed around here as well.

Why blame Bush?
America has been handing out "millions and millions" for decades, perhaps since Teddy Roosevelt, the first president to depart from the old-school isolationism that America enjoyed until about 1900.
Incidentally, the "millions and millions" are very often the values put on products that we send, not money.

I wouldn't mind foreign aide that helped people.
I notice, however, you aren't complaining about the trillions we're spending to commit mass murder. Why doesn't that bother you?
Given the amount of damage that the U.S. has done to many other countries, and on general humanitarian principles (two concepts you might want to gain famiiarity with), no, I don't begrudge aide, per se.
I just disapprove of supplying weaponry, and tying humanitarian aide to immoral religious beliefs.

Yours is an old saw. The US would be short sighted to overlook aid to countries where we have strategic interests. As for fixing our country, a few hundred thousand of lazy sob's need to get off their duffs and get jobs.

It's going to take 2 decades to fix all of Bush's mistakes. There's no shortage of them.
I hate the fact that oil countries have been catered to under his power, yet there's an ever-increasing amount of Americans with no health care. It would be nice to have a prez who actually cared about his own people for a change. Haven't had that in ten years..

It's nothing new. We've been giving aid to other countries for generations.

More like billions!
I say, we do whatever we have to to keep the lid on, and the savages at bay.
Bribes are probably cheaper than bombs, so let's use them when we can.
