Fireplace or Gas logs?
I have gas logs at home. but my cabin (in my dreams of course!!!) has the real thing...huge fireplace with lotsa logs burning and stew cooking in a huge pot!!!

i`ve had both, logs are a lot of work, dirty, and bugs all come in the house with the logs, and the smoke gets all over the House in time, messy ...the gas ones are so real these days , still work will for your stew, with no ash in it...

Growing up I had a wood fireplace. I loved the heat and the smell. But it was closed, so you couldn't see the flames. And I was forever hauling wood.
Now I have a gas fireplace (actual flames, not those fake logs that glow). This one has a glass front, so you can see the flames. Plus, it turns on with a remote control. However, it's not the same.
So my answer: I prefer the wood fireplace.

I've had both. Logs are better, no doubt. My gas fireplace insert is in the shed! The only thing that kinda sucks is cleaning out the ashes, but it's worth it.

Fireplace because you can have instant heat, you don't have to go and get the logs, and you don't have to arrange the logs however it is they need to be arranged. Finally you don't have to faff around lighting a fireplace and you can control the level of heat more.

A real fireplace. So warm and cozy. Especially in a cabin would be wonderful!

I would love a fireplace with real logs just once in my life. I want to decorate the mantle for Christmas and sit by the fire drinking hot chocolate....sigh....

Wow! Can I move in with you? I'd go for the gas because fireplaces are so darn messy.
