Mass is always conserved during any chemical reactions. This principle is used everywhere for quantitative chemistry analysis. That is why we are always required to balance the reaction equation. Why would you have any doubt?

Note: In nuclear physics, mass may not appear to be conserved. However, based on Einstein's famous equation E=Mc^2, energy is always conserved and mass is part of the energy.
