I stepped on a rusty nail 2 days ago and I am going to the doctor today to get it cleaned and a tetanus shot. But now my toes are swollen and purple, and I can't move them. I'm sure it is just trauma, but I'm not a sucker for pain and this REALLY hurts! Does anyone know if they will give me crutches when I go to the doctor, I can hardly walk.

Yah, they'll definitely give you crutches if you tell them you can't walk. If they don't have any there they might tell you where to get them. That stinks, I'm sorry - I hope that toe swelling isn't from the rust!

I also stepped on a nail on Saturday morning, yesterday my foot swelled up really bad and was really red where it looked like it was going to push through the top of my foot. But I got my tetanus shot last Tuesday so I was up to date on that. So I went into emerge and doctor prescribed antibiotics that I'm to take 4 times a day. Where the nail entered still bleeds and the red had turned purple and my pinky toe seems to only be getting more and more painful. About an hour after I stepped on a nail all of my toes but my big toe went numb. If you notice that you have red streaks going up your leg go right away to emerge because that is a sign of blood infection

It's a good possibility they will have some or either send you somewhere to get them.I had a cyst removed from one of my feet when I was younger and some crutches were provide then but that was many yrs.ago. This last time I had a broken arm and toward the end was sent to a place to be fitted for a special splint so I guess it depends on the DRS. office......
