Husband. There is no reason not to give it to them; if you can afford it. The two have to talk and decide what their goals are: Retire early? Retire at all? How many kids are we putting through college? Have we got an emergency fund? After all those bills are paid, go nuts. Otherwise, you're mortgaging your, and possibly your kids', future.

We each have control over our finances. Of course money is important to both of us because we could not pay the bills with out it.

I already do.

I make all the money, my wife controls all the money (plus what she makes from her part-time business) and she gets whatever she wants.

The only rule I have: I get my toys (for example: My truck and boat).

Been that way for 20 years.

My paycheck is direct deposit into a joint account - and she does the check writing / bill paying / budgetting ...... We confer on large purchases, but SHE controls the family funds.

Always has been that way......
