The "brown gooey" IS your period, darlin. At first it can be only spotty and brown, but definitely IS a period. Talk to your mom.

Yes, you are definitely showing signs of your period. I don't think it's just obsessive behavior, feeling hormonal is real and you can know it. It is not so unusual to have a sense of yourself and where you are at. It is always better to be in tune with yourself and what you're feeling than to expect to be like anyone else. That's fine. You're doing great.
Being weepy and overly emotional is part of the package too. It's not crazy, so try and stop fighting it. It will only upset you more. If you want to cry that much find a quiet corner and cry. Do it away from your friends so you don't have to make excuses. That's all right. To let it out would relieve the tension and then let you go on to something else. It could help calm you down. Whatever you do it will be all right. Try and go with the flow. This will pass and you will go back to being your usual self.
If you're having cramps, you probably don't have enough water to flush it out. Getting started can be the hardest part of getting started. If I don't have enough water, I just can't do it.
I would recommend you get some orange juice, something with lots of sodium or potassium to get more fluid into your system. Be aware that this could make you very thirsty, so you want to stay calm and drink a little bit at a time.
When I'm ready to start I feel like I could drink the house dry. If I can't manage to control myself I will bloat on too much water and this could lead to cramping. This way, I'm urging you to push it over the edge and get on with it all ready. If you can just start, soon you'll be getting it over with.
Moody behavior is not unusual right before a period, so try and relax. Take it in stride, this happens to everybody. It's not as unusual as you might have thought. It new and you're reacting but you know just what it is. Imagine how confused and upset you'd be if you couldn't understand at all. It would be a hundred times worse. It's OK, and you're managing it. Tell yourself, "I'm Ok, I can do this". I assure you it's all right and you're doing just fine. Let yourself calm down and go with it. It's OK. You're doing great. Hang in there. It will be all right.
I hope this helps you.

I got mine when I was 11. I thought I wanted it too! After all they make it sound like such a big deal, but all it means is that you might be able to have babies some day. Even women who can't have kids still get their periods, and some women have such irregular periods they never know if they're pregnant or not. You had your first period and you need to tell your mom. She will have to take you shopping. Start out with pads and move toward tampons (I highly recommend the slim fit plastic applicators) when you're ready.
So, welcome to the world of sore boobs, mood swings, emotional outbreaks, acne, cramps, backache, headache and worry. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Stock up on midol. Congrats!

1st you are ONLY 12! you kids need to stop obsessing with getting your periods. because once you get it, it doesn't go away!
they way you are describing, you might be on the very cusp of starting. the emotions are crazy and they get worse as you get older.
your period starts anytime during puberty. just cuz you have pubs and boobs doesn't mean anything. you can start now at 12 or 13 and guess what if they are normal, they won't go away until menopause, which can be anywhere from 40 to in your 70's.
calm down, it will start and like i said before once it does you just can't make it go away!
