the whole rearend will have to be tore apart and new ring and pinion put in along with new bearings, your probably looking at close to a $1,000 to do the whole job.

You can't replace a single tooth.
That being said, any mechanic worth the money you are spending will replace the entire gear assembly. Ring gear, pinion gear, spider gears and side gears if one had become damaged enough to lose a tooth. If one is that bad, you probably have other damage in the differential. This being a transaxle car, rather than a regular axle ,makes the it a bigger pain in the rear to do.
I would expect an upwards of 4+ hours of labor, plus 3 or 4 hundred in parts cost. If its being done at a Ford dealer, I would expect 4+ hours of labor plus 5 or 6 hundred in parts. (got to pay for that pretty money losing showroom and the endless sales people)

You don't want to replace a tooth, you want to replace the spider gear, side gear, or ring gear (or pinion gear) that has the broken tooth.
Depending on which one's broken, the parts won't be too much...probably less than $100. The labor could be quite a bit to open up the differential and set up the gears again afterwards (if it's a ring gear or pinion gear). My guess would be about $300 labor.
