Oh wow, don't get me started!
When you see the teen pondlife on telly with children already, fighting over whether they are the parents or not (I mean what is that all about-10 blokes and they still haven't got a clue-now there's a glorious moral example for the next generation) it makes my blood run cold.
That said I watched the programme on China's stolen children the other week and that brought up some interesting issues-what happens if you can't get a 'license' for example?
There was a mother on there that had clearly fallen in love with her partner and subsequent child but because they weren't allowed to marry they weren't allowed to have a child (no documents) and so they were looking at having to effectively sell their baby-it was heart breaking.
In principle I'm all for stricter controls on parenting but truth be told I wouldn't like this particular government imposing their loony liberal thinking on my parenting and deciding that because I won't tolerate their 'rights of a child to do what they want routine' I'm unfit.
Maybe a 'guide to effective parenting' and classes on a yearly basis might be the better way to go as while I see where you're coming from (totally) one man's strict discipline is another man's totalitarian household.
After all, we all know people who, despite obviously being good parents, let their children do things that we wouldn't dream of allowing & visa versa.

For anyone who doesn't live in the UK and doesn't know what a TV licence is, it's how the BBC get their money. They don't advertise, so to make their money everyone who has a TV has to buy a monthly TV "licence" - really just a tax to keep them going. If there was no TV licence, the BBC would have to advertise to make money.

revenue generation for your government.....pure and simple....if they could find a way to tax or otherwise license every time your **** gets hard they'd do that too.....at least we haven't gotten so bad here that we have to license our tv's yet, but for what we pay for cable or sattelite, it might as well be.....the only reason they don't license the people who are parents is that kids are so expensive they get thier money on sales taxes on all the myriad of things that have to be bought for the kids.....

Radio (not CB, Ham, etc) have not needed licenses for a very long time; nor TV.
Yes, people should need a permission to have children. Of course no Repugs could ; )

I have been saying this for years. Usually the worst parents are the ones that get pregnant easily whilst the people who would make brilliant parents struggle to get pregnant.

I guess you could propose a license to reproduce. I would suggest it be limited to people with good looks, above average intelligence, educated and employed in a good job. I wonder what the fine would be for screwing without a license?
