We have secret courts and secret hearings. American citizens are being arrested/detained without charge, without right to counsel, for years. Phones, mail, and computers are being censored and scanned.
This is what we are offering these people?

Excellent question.

Isn't it ironic? What's next rigged elections? Wait, that already happened in 2000.

Telephone lines, mail and computers have never been 100% guaranteed private. Ever. You're on the internet every day, no? Unless you're an "expert" you can do all but completely wipe out your hard drive and your history, emails etc can still be tracked. That has pretty much always been the case. And who are these people being arrested/detained for years without counsel? Are you referring to the poor little prisoners at Guantanamo Bay? If so you should do a bit more research...you'll find that their needs are being met and then some. They weren't just randomly picked off of the street. Not YOURs anyway.
That said, I have to agree with JimSock - no other country that didn't start as a democracy wants anything to do with it. They don't know what it is, don't want to know and would like to stay as-is thank you very much. I am perfectly fine with that. Not once on this forum or anywhere else have I said I think we should push ourselves, our way of life, or democracy on any other country. I'm just fine with focusing on our own country, right here.

America started the empire building business since Woodrow Wilson decided to enter the World War 1, and since then, he had said "We will make the world a safer place for Democracy"...

Since then, America started pushing it's weight around, and trying to meddle in other nation's affairs, and shoving "Democracy" down their throats..

And Emperor George Bush II is just following the tradition of Emperor Woodrow Wilson. Just tryin' to be the good guys.... by hitting them on the head with a club called 'Democracy'..

"Boink!" You're democratized!

Name one citizen that fits?

OK let's set that aside for a moment.

Democracy has been soundly rejected around the world. People don't understand it, don't want to do the work it requires and don't want it. They can't even say it. They say deeemohcrassy.
Anyone who says deeemohcrassy shouldn't have democracy.
The Greeks invented it and they don't even do it anymore.
I am in favor of staying right here. Screw spreading democracy it's not worth the trouble.
Besides, if they get democracy, they might figure out that capitalism works and then they will compete with us.
Let them do what they want which is to try and take over their respective countries according to race, nationalism and religion.
Half of them will be killed in the process and be much less of a global burden.
Leave them there. Close the borders, build fortress America and watch them all starve on CNN.

Invest in Bio Diesel and stay home.

Isolate now.

Kelly, Hi Gal,
I just posted a 'question' / 'statement' and I do wish you would answer it.
Now, for this one of yours:
There is under way, a movement, by some and 'muy mucho' / very many millions of their 'duped' followers to hasten the "New World Order" dominance.
To 'spread Democracy and freedoms' is "Counter productive" to the NWO proponents !!!!! This IS NOT what 'they' want !!!!
What ever it takes to diminish the influence of our freedoms, they do !!!!!!!!
BTW, Toro, and Uncle Wil wish you and your's the very best.

We are not spreading democracy and freedom. We are exporting our own brand of fascism. When the majority of the population realizes this, of course it will be too late to do anything about it. When Hitler was doing his evil thing in Europe, there was the USA to come to the rescue of free France and England, and Poland and Italy, and all the rest. What country is going to come to our defense when BushCheney, Inc. have total control over every thing? Nobody. No country. All it would take, all it WILL take, is some terrorist event and we'll have martial law, suspension of national elections (probably next year this will happen) and the US fascist make-over will be complete.

Because it's do as we say not as we do.
I was astonished at Bushs press conference yesterday when he said "You can't enforce democracy at the end of a gun." "The people have to want it."
What is wrong with him? Doesn't he see how ludicrous that statement actually was?
It's got people questioning this presidents mental status as I have been questioning it for quite sometime now!!
BTW They can't tell us why all the secrecy because it's classified!!

We can't offer "democracy" here either. What we have is a plutocracy. For those that didn't know that-
plu·toc·ra·cy (plū-tŏk'rə-sē)
n., pl. -cies.
1.Government by the wealthy.
2.A wealthy class that controls a government.
3.A government or state in which the wealthy rule.

If you think I'm wrong, how many good "average" citizens can you find in the Government? Average being not rich....

America hasn't been the leader of the free world since before Bush took over. Aside from the theocratic police state we've become, we are outpaced in nearly every other country in the world when it comes to freedoms. Never mind that in most every industrialized nation in the world, gays have rights can get married and have civil protections. But not here in Jesus land. Or that we jail people for petty drug crimes for 20 years where in other countries they'd get a fine.

It's funny how we want to spread democracy and when we are a Republic. But I do agree, some things in the patriot act have to change.
