Aren't you SICK TO DEATH of the CONDESCENTION and ignorance implicit in that question?

OK but here's the deal. Just because we DON'T elect a woman or black person doesn't mean we're "not ready."

Absolutely.... the same about Mitt being Mormon... how about... is America ready to elect a candidate that is best qualified for the job?

It's a stupid question meant to detract from any analysis of the actual black man... and the woman... running.

Here are your answers:

1. Yes, America IS ready for a black President. I'm sure there are many eminently qualified black Americans out there who would make fine Presidents. Barack Obama is not one of them... at least not yet.

2. Yes, America IS ready for a woman President. I'm sure there are many eminently qualified female Americans out there who would make fine Presidents. Hillary Clinton is not one of them, and never will be.

So, in a nutshell... yes, but not the ones we have running.
Ross Perot once said "Anyone smart enough to DO this job... doesn't want it."
I believe he may have been more right than he knew.

I believe America is ready for a woman or a black president. What is so great about men and why is it that they seem to have to be more dominant in todays society. I mean, its 2007 get over it!

It's ready for either,or both. It is very condescending indeed to imply otherwise. But those that imply that we aren't ready are simply trying to reframe the debate,to say we are sexist or racist for not wanting to support the female or black candidates that are running.

I for one am perfectly ready for a black,or female President. As long as the first one in any of the above categories are not either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

America is ready for a strong leader. Race or color should never be an issue in determining who that may be.

And to answer your second question, yes.

We don't usually agree on things... but on this we do. Here's your star.

Well, since we claim to be one of the world's superpowers, I think we need to mix it up a little and show the other countries that supposedly look up to us that we are capable of electing some one more than a WASP Republican

Its unfortunate that people are still placing labels on others in regards to sex and skin color.

We're all Americans, right?

Isn't that all what matters in the long run?

I doubt that more than a small percentage of Americans can identify themselves as having a single lineage, most of us are of mixed heritage.

The majority of Americans are ready for a change. As long as that person is honest, and has a do-able plan for ending the war, I don't care if the next president is a purple, asexual person.

Bring it on... Can't b any worse than what we have been forced to deal with. We really just need a good, honest politician that isn't in the pockets of corporations. Ha ha... I said honest and politician in the same sentence. I'm hillarious!
