Well there is a brand called duck tape. But it was originally duct tape they just put a fancy name for people like me and you to go duck tape and buy it....lol before it became so useful that is

I didn't but them I work in a store and also my husband uses it for EVERYTHING. I even got him some "duct" tape band aids. Strangely enough there is a brand of duct tape called Duck Tape.

It is both. It was originally created for the Army, where it was used for waterproofing (i.e. "duck") as it sheds water. Men coming home from military service found it had as many uses at home as it did in the Army. One of the most popular uses was on sealing ducts (i.e duct)- hence the name duct tape. That is also why the mst popular color is silver or grey- it matches the ducts.

i saw someone called it that yesterday, it gave me a little laff! anyone who has used it knows its duct tape! but i have to admit, it does sound like duck! i suppose if you buy the duck brand....
