I didn't but them I work in a store and also my husband uses it for EVERYTHING. I even got him some "duct" tape band aids. Strangely enough there is a brand of duct tape called Duck Tape.

It is both. It was originally created for the Army, where it was used for waterproofing (i.e. "duck") as it sheds water. Men coming home from military service found it had as many uses at home as it did in the Army. One of the most popular uses was on sealing ducts (i.e duct)- hence the name duct tape. That is also why the mst popular color is silver or grey- it matches the ducts.

I think that was the first name. Later it was changed to duct.

For the longest time that's what I thought it was called...but then I was at the store one day and I read the package and felt pretty silly afterwords.
