I'm stunned that so many people have said no!

Identical twins are basically clones. Their DNA is absolutely the same. They might not look exactly the same. The genes aren't really a blueprint for a whole person - think of them as more like a recipe, each cake turns out a little different.

How would they know who did it? Well not through a DNA test. I wonder if one twin has ever tried to frame another for a crime... There are lots of other kinds of evidence in court though, trace, witnesses, alibis and such.

My sisters are identical twins they do have the same DNA however depending on the crime it would decide which one did it. they have enough differences to tell them apart if a person gets a good look at them. I seen that on a cop show once. A guy was a twin, one twin was a loser in trouble with the law all the time. The other one a clean, married, upstanding guy. One of them raped a woman, they blamed the one always in trouble. But it ended up being the other twin the proof was a scratch mark behind the ear.

Identical twins have essentially identical dna. They have different fingerprints though (since fingerprints only slightly depend on DNA).

To answer your question, they can't just rely on DNA. You are basically asking "if there was no DNA, how would police know who committed the crime?" Well, crimes were solved before DNA tests, so the same methods would be used. Investigation, witnesses, alibis, motive, evidence, blah blah blah.

Identical twins are fertilized before the egg splits and Yes, they have the same DNA.

Their fingerprints would be different and the police would separately investigate each as they would any suspect.

Yes, if they are identical twins meaning the egg split and two children were born.

I know it's TV and you can't believe most of it but there was a case where this happened. One had killed someone & they were stumped as to which of the two did it because DNA was exact. They finally determined who the killer was by fingerprints.

It depends on if they are fraternal or paternal. If it is paternal twins yes - this is one zygote with a complete set of DNA that splits eventually growing into two (or more ) separate individuals each with the same DNA.

there are other ways to solve a crime without relaying soley on DNA.

identical twin have ALMOST the same exact dna. When it comes to committing a crime, it can be hard to figure out who did it by dna testing.

Idential twins have the same DNA. because idential twins are formed with one egg splits into two different eggs upon fertilization. Fraternal twins do not have the same DNA because they are formed when two separate sperm cells fertilize two different eggs.
