Since you're so absolutely convinced that all men are like children from the beginning, don't be surprised if they act like them sometimes. I bet if you stop acting like the responsible and efficient head of the household yourself and take a back seat, your husband will be forced to do the things he's not doing now. Relax and let your household turn into chaos and let your man start sorting it out his way. But this will only work if you don't come to the rescue and don't tell him what to do or how to do it! You have to tough it out.
But it might not work if your man and kids actually like it topsy turvy!

Well, first of all, how are you enabling this behavior?
My wife and I both work. As a result, cooking, cleaning, and watching the kids are divided pretty equally.
So if your hubby is irresponsible, then you'll need to take baby steps to make him an equal partner in managing the house. You can't just walk into the den while he's watching ESPN and start shreiking at him.
Instead, start giving him small responsibilities that are his and his alone. More importantly, DON'T NITPICK HOW HE DOES THEM. He may not make the beds exactly how you prefer it done. He may not put away the dishes the way you like. Instead, it's more important to get him in the habit of doing it, and then helping him do a better job later.

Well, first of all, stop classifying "men" into one catagory. That's truly the "pot calling the kettle black".
You won't get very far with your perspective. Your focus is built on a faulty foundation; namely "men".
You need to mature yourself into learning how to properly communicate as a wife and mother.
You have left out many details that would clear your husband from your accusations of being "irresponsible". For example, does he work most of the time to bring in the income? If so, you are wrong and need to become the responsible one in being a supportive wife and a positive influencial mother.
If he does not work, then it's simply a matter of how to effectively communicate what is needed. Your vocal tantrums show only your immaturity, not your husband's.

That is so funny. Of course men are big children. You know you will have to do the reward contingent to behavior thing. You have to dangle boy toys for him to perform. I do not think that it is fair to want him to be maternal. He is not wired that way. I hope he is financially responsible and takes care of the family. I know is sounds crazy but where you live is not supposed to be neat. You do not live in a museum. Weigh the issues. It sounds like he is involved with the boys. Would you give that up for him to cook and clean?

Here's a tip: If you husband ever figures out how to take care of the house by himself, he won't need you. Be careful what you ask for, girlfriend.

Regarding women?
Women are almost helpless without a man to give them directions.
See how stupid it looks to generalize?

you should be thankful that your husband is not someone who is married to their job or is an alcoholic who doesn't want to even spend time with his kids.
