The common, riveted blue jeans as we know them were patented by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, but the original jeans were created near Turin in Italy and most commonly sold in Genoa for sailors.

The band-aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson, a Johnson & Johnson employee.

Regarding jeans, here's a quote from the wikipedia article:

"The earliest known pre-cursor for jeans is the Indian export of a thick cotton cloth, in the 16th century, known as dungaree. Dyed in indigo, it was sold near the Dongarii Fort near Bombay. Sailors cut it to suit them.

Jeans fabric was first created in Chieri, a town near Turin (Italy), in the 1400s. It was sold through the harbour of Genoa, that was the capital of an independent republic, and a naval power. The first were made for the Genoese Navy because it required all-purpose trousers for its sailors that could be worn wet or dry, and whose legs could easily be rolled up to wear while swabbing the deck. These jeans would be laundered by dragging them in large mesh nets behind the ship, and the sea water would bleach them white. According to many people the jeans name comes from blue de Genes, i.e. blue of Genoa."

Levi Strauss and others were the first to market a particular style of jeans (with rivets to strengthen the seams), they certainly did not invent them.

Band-aids, or sticking plasters in English, evolved from the poultices and compresses used in medieval times to dress wounds. The first type of dressing with an adhesive strip each side was the Band-Aid invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson.

Jeans were invented by Levi Strauss during the California gold rush. He made them for the miners and sewed them from sail cloth because it was tough and would last a long time. The band aid? I don't have a clue.

Jeans - a dude named Levi Strauss

Levi Strauss bought canvas during the California Gold rush of 1849 for tents to sell to the miners. When they got to CA tents were plentiful but the miners were going through britches fast in the rugged duties that mining demands, thus they switched from blue tents to blue BRITCHES.
