People need a scapegoat to explain terrible acts and during the whole columbine thing marilyn manson was at the height of his popularity and he looked weird so he was a natural target. Its also really easy to blame people like eminem, snoop dogg, korn, pearl jam etc. because at one time or another they represented a counter-culture which "adults" didn't understand, kids are a lot less impressionable than people think but if they already have a tendency to hurt/kill people some lyrics may give them a sense that those actions are acceptable, just remember that the guys who did columbine, were psychopaths and did not care about the consequences of their actions, and its easier to blame a musician who goes against the mold than to take a closer look at the society that produced these killers.

Contrary to what another poster says, it is not lax gun laws. Kids get picked on and can't take it because kids now are coddled and told that heir feeling are the most important thing in the world. Basically, kids now are sissys. Parents of these kids do not want to take responsibility for raising their own kids and so their kids turn out like the Columbine kids. Then the parents have to blame somebody and Manson is an easy target and nobody will stand up for him, so there you go. BTW, Manson is a genious. He gets so much free publicity from the very people that want him censored. They rant on and on which makes kids like him more and increases his sales. They do not even see that hey are what is driving his popularity, it is hilarious.

No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions these days. When a child makes a bad grade, the parents automatically say the teacher is picking on their dear sweet child. When these kids get hold of guns that are left unlocked, the parents don't take the blame, even though they leave their guns unlocked, so they blame someone else. It's disgusting to me what some people do and say.

Well simple the one family tried to sue (crap can't remember the bands name now) for their song Jeremy, and LOST. So now since we can't blame the bands/singers IN COURT we blame them in the papers. Just like games like Grand Theft Auto are the root of all evil, as is Rap music, Rock music, Movies, TV shows, hell Pong probably was at one time. They just need something to blame and blame whatever gets the most people to agree to it at the time, and now I remember the band was Pearl Jam(remember they are more of an underground band because they wouldn't do Videos because MTV wouldn't let them do Jeremy the way they wanted).
