that have not been criticized for him taking AFTER an attack?
For instance, the NSA electronic surveillance of suspected terrorist calls into or from the US, data-mining, cooperating with financial institutions regarding wire transfers, operating Guantanamo, and the detention and interrogation programs.
All of these measures have been criticized, even from many of those who say they "oppose the war in Iraq but support the war on terror."
So, what measures would YOU have taken (not including any of these, or any other Bush program that's been attacked) to have prevented 9/11?
(Sadly, my option - getting a handle on illegal immigration - appears to be off the table for both major parties.)
Thanks.

Good question, I'm not so sure. I think 9/11 was inevitable in this regard. There is no way that the American people would have tolerated things like Gitmo, the Patriot Act, and all of the tools used to fight terrorism prior to their being any reason to need to prevent it. Then all this "police-state authoritarian regime" rhetoric would have had a lot more merit in the absence of any reason to take terrorism seriously.
Prior to 9/11, radical Islam and terrorism were of the most minor concern of Americans until it hit them on their homeland.

there become alot of concepts accessible. humorous how well-known human beings (see the source record) can placed it at the same time from public resources although the US intelligence provider won't be able to. the information become incorrect on 9/11 and it become thoroughly incorrect on the topic of Iraq and WMD's so how is it obtainable no individual has been held in charge for those large intelligence mess united statesfrom curiously the perfect agencies contained in the international? wide-spread Myres who become the pinnacle of the nationwide air defence gadget on 9/11 become promoted!! after being in a assembly (ie. doing no longer something) till after the pentagon become hit. strong artwork wide-spread. there are distinctive circumstances like this of the right brass being promoted after failure to save on with proper technique on that day. How there has no longer been a significant overhaul of the FBI and CIA after 2 of the biggest intelligence mess united statesthe favourite age has considered is previous me, yet in spite of this its Bush in spite of everything.

I think the main thing that would have helped prevent this kind of disaster would have been to simply have the cockpits of airplanes separated from the main cabin area and sealed off, so that terrorists could never take control of a plane and actually fly it into anything.

Sent an alert out advising the various intelligence agencies of a possible attack from terrorists!
Now that I have answered yours answer mine. What did Bush do about ensuring national security after receiving the PDB of 8/6/01 saying OBL wanted to strike inside US?
According to retired FBI agent Coleen Rowley(Minneapolis) FBI HQ denied repeated requests for FISA warrants in the weeks prior to 9/11 which obstructed terrorism investigations.Minneapolis is where they caught Moussaoui weeks before 9/11.
How come the FBI had Moussaoui in custody for weks before 911 and not foil the plot? Why did FBI HQ refused the requested FISA warrants?
The question is my own.........what were Bushs orders after receiving the PDB?
Why did FBI HQ in Washington deny those FISA warrants?
You won't answer the question BECAUSE you don't know what Bush did!

First, bin laden hit the Twin Towers (I think in 1993) by bombing the garage. Clinton should have taken out bin laden when he had the chance and he did have a chance.
What could Bush have done before the 9/11 attack? If he had hit afghanistan prior to the Twin Towers taken down what would people have said?
I would have presented what we had to all top Military leaders and ask them what they think should be done. Second, have agents invading every area of the muslim religion. Third, freeze monies associated with terrorist in this country. Fourth, not allow foreigners associated with the muslim faith into this country to go to "college" Fifth, send special forces in and quitely take out all top leaders in the terrorist groups. I bet Israel, and England would have enjoyed doing this all prior to 9/11.

In the early 40's the country was attacked and then again not until 2001; what was done in those sixty years that prevented this from occuring, and why was that application missing?

To be fair to the guy, no President alone can quickly change a nation's mentality. For example, Americans do not understand that they will always be hated by some foreigners. They hate us BECAUSE we are open to argument, which they call 'decadent'; not because they want us to be more sympathetic to their ideas.
