last year I have downloaded the death note series and watched it...
I really like 'coz it's really direct to the point! when you die, you really are gonna die!
so are there any other animes like death note?
what is the coolest anime in Japan right now or the ever favorite anime like no other?

As far as lateset and greatest are concerned, it's a little early in the season to tell (3 episodes in). However, Shakugan no Shana Season 2 and CLANAND are probably the biggest hyped and watched at the moment in Japan. In my opinion, the best thing airing is Baccano! It's underwatched, but I haven't met a single person who's watched it and not enjoyed it. You should like it if you liked Death Note (both have good suspense, but that's where similarities really end).
If you are looking for something that gives off feelings like Death Note, try Code Geass. The first season already finished, and another season will be coming out soon.

Many other fans on anime forums compare death note with code geass. (They are a bit similar in a way because the lead character gains some power in the beginning and uses it to "better the world" the way he thinks is right. Also, both characters try to conceal their true identity to the public) Although in my opinion, death note is really infinitely better than code geass.
Just a thought but when you wrote "when you die, you really gonna die" ... it reminded me of the anime School Days. It's a romance/ecchi anime and it's in my top 10 list of faves which include death note. Try watching it(School Days final episode 12) if you really want to see direct to the point realistic death(s).

Not sure... I love Death Note though... Um, some other ones that I love are oh... Trinity Blood, Fullmetal Alchemist (but the manga is way better in this one), and there's always Cowboy Bebop, if you haven't already seen it. It's older, but it's still really good!
