Growing spurts are indeed a reality not just a figure of speech. When going thru a growing spurt you'll have an increased appetite, muscle aches and pains, and even difficulty sleeping and/or increased fatigue. Don't worry about it -- so long as you're eating healthy and not just indulging on junk-food, you should definitely eat more when you feel like this. It's a natural, normal thing to happen.

It's the bane of teenage girls everywhere....the boys eat like pigs at a trough and never gain an ounce. Relax, young man, you are perfectly normal. My 14 year old grandson can inhale two double meat cheeseburgers, large fries, three fried apple pies, and two glasses of milk, and be looking for more food an hour later. He plays football, too, but even if he didn't I think he would eat like that. I also raised two boys who ate like that. And, no, we are not a family of fat people. You're so hungry because you are a 14 year old boy....that's all.

All teenagers get hungry...esp. boys. this is normal. Feed the beast when you're hungry, but try and eat as much healthy stuff as you can.
If you're really worried about gaining weight talk to your coach, health teacher, or doctor about what types of food you should be eating.
