I knwo what you mean.. I have 2 boys.. youngest being 10 mths... I always hate that you can find super cute things for girls but not boys..

I can sometimes find cute stuff at walmart & target but it is rare...
Babies R Us is a good place, if you shop the clearance racks..

keep an eye out at your local thrift stores.. resale shops.. Honestly.. they will out grow it so fast that it isnt worth spending alot of $ on thier clothes..

Have you thought about accenting what you have or get... you can add patches or stuff to the clothing and make sets and stuff..

I have a baby girl, and you're right about there being a greater selection for them, but Old Navy is where I love to shop. The boys section has probably the best variety in boys clothing. Their prices are relatively low and a lot better quality than Wal-Mart. They are always having sales too, so I'm there every month! Baby Gap also has great clothes, but they're a little more expensive than Old Navy...but the clothes are so cute and durable that it's worth the extra bucks for something that can be worn with many other things. Hope this helps!

I get some stuff at Target and Old Navy, but the very best deals I find at Mervyns. They have serious sales - I just bought my 3 year old son 4 pairs of jeans, 3 shirts and a heavy hooded sweatshirt for about $60.

When he was smaller (and the clothes cost less), we reoutfitted him from socks to clothes to PJ's for under $100. They just finished a "buy one get one free" kids clothing sale, but they have sales like that often.

Also, I have bought a few batches of clothes from eBay. At the beginning of the summer, I got several pairs of shorts, bathing trunks and shirts for $25. Most of the time, the jeans are the same ones you'd go out and buy anyway, and they're good as new.

For babies, I think whats importance is nice material and easy of ues - get a blow-outed outfit off for example. I thnk there you just got to go check things out. For toddler, I found that its the old school handme downs that work the best, like Levis and Grranimals. Things made in the last 5 year, seem to have shabby elastic, and the pants that fit in the morning are falling down by noon, and the shirts do the oppostie and shrink up so bad.

Baby consignment shops are nice and cheap, Target, Walmart, Sears has a pretty good baby section, JCPenny too..
I personally used baby consignment tho, they have 2nd hand clothes, very clean and a lot of name brand stuff like baby gap and ol navy =) plus you can usually get other things there like toys, carriers, strollers etc for real cheap and they are always clean and checked for safety before they go on sale.. PLUS you can trade in clothes that are too small for the next size up! Hopefully you have one in your area! I dont know what I'd do without mine! Good luck!

2nd hand stores. Spending 20 bucks on a sleeper or an outfit that they are just going to grow out of really fast, is a bad way to spend cash. Your having a baby, its going to expensive enough, don't break the bank on designer clothing for a 3 week old. Let other people buy that kind of thing for you becasue they don't have to pay your bills.
In total we have spent 350 bucks and we have every single thing that we need. We have bought everything at 2nd hand stores.
And if you think that you are above and beyond 2nd hand stores, then by all means spend 1000s and 1000s but don't start crying becasue you are social assistance. Hopefully one of you makes 200,000 a year.

Mervyns.. They always have sales, and great sales on toddler clothes when he gets bigger. When my son was a baby I bought at Walmart, and Kmart, but then when I went to Mervyns and was amazed how the clothes were a good price and are great quality, that's the only place I get my son's clothes at now.

Target, Babies R Us, Wal-Mart and I've heard Burlington Coat Factory in the Baby Depot section has a huge selection (never been though).

Salvation Army - super cheap, usually almost brand new, and demand for baby clothes is such so that you'll always find cute, "stylish" clothes for babies!

I have a boy too, I know what you are talking about its not easy. I found the best stuff at carters. They are well priced, last a long time and are very cute.
