I saw Vinny Testaverde win last week with Carolina, and my question is, how can you possibly win and know what's going on if you've been on a team for only 5 days? How did Testaverde win while being on the team under a week...like, did he learn the playbook THAT quickly? He only had a few days to practice with those guys, I doubt he knew all of the plays, all of the terminology they use, how the O-line works and how to call plays in their system...can someone explain to me how he did it and how a qb THIS new does this?

It's called playing in the league for 22 years. Do you really think there is an offense he hasn't seen, termonology he hasn't heard or that coaches are really doing anything that diverse? Besides, were talking about John Fox here. The guy's not exactly Bill Walsh

Well, Vinny is not exactly a newbie when it comes to this offense. The Panthers' new Offensive Co-ordinator comes from the Belichick stable of assistants and spent 8 years in New England under Parcells and Belichick before moving on to coach with Cleveland for the last two years under Romeo Crennel. Vinny was Belichick's QB in Cleveland for 3 years and played for Parcells for a couple of season in New York and Dallas and was the Pats backup QB last season. So, Vinny came into Carolina already having a general working knowledge of how this particular offense works.

Most coaches use the same basic plays, they just put a new twist to them,Testaverde has been in football for so long he has probably seen them all,the only trouble with a quarterback new to the team is his timing with his receivers, but even that can be overcome

the probably scaled the playbook down to the bare minnimum and he probably studied that crap night and day.

He's been around forever so nothing is really new to him.
