They have an absolutely IMMENSE military thanks to us and England.
We need to let them go. They ARE the reason Arabs burn our flags. Israel is increasingly hostile and aggressive to their neighbors. The US-Israel umbilical cord needs to be cut once and for all.

We support Israel for -our- purposes, not theirs. They are a good friend, a center of high tech, a big trading partner, etc.
But I think we could do a better job of trying to keep them in line. American presidents are afraid to criticize Israel. I think we could be of more 'help' to them in working out a good settlement with the Palestinians, and then holding them to their promises.
The Arab countries hated Israel when it was a small, weak country. If we cut off all aid from Israel and boycotted them, and made them a small, weak country again, it would make no difference to the Arabs, they'd still hate them. The Arabs have a completely different reason for resenting -us-, and that wouldn't change either.

The Arabs hate the constant intervention of the USA into the middle east. Israel related or not.
By the way, the rest of the world feel about the same about the constant intervention of the USA into ........ (fill in the blank).
You have to understand that it's all done with your money, the money that you earn working hard, and that it doesn't bring any benefit your way.

Let me ask you a question; its four years in the future, Iran has justed attacked Israel with nuclear weapons. The Jewish section of Jerusalem is burning, the port city of Haifa is a waste land, and Tel Aviv has ceased to exist. Syria and Egypt with support from other muslim nations has announced that they are going in to Israel to slaughter every Jewish man, woman, and child in the streets. The toll is expected to be near 6 million innocent murdered. What do you think the US should do? What do you want to do? What would you be willing to do to prevent this?

No we made a commitment to protect them and we should stick with it. If you are a democrat you should be very careful what statements are made. As I understand it the majority of the Jewish population vote as democrats. Only under the last few elections have the numbers moved to the right. That is a very large block of voters in this country.

Israel is an ideological ally only. there is nothing about Israel that confers any logistical, economic, military, or realistic benefit at all to the US.
as a matter of fact and history, our allegiance to Israel has proved to be a very realistic, logistical, economic, and military liability in many cases.
