How about the universities? Liberal or conservative?

Fox=Hardcore conservative

MSNBC= slightly to the right of middle

CNN= Still has a liberal reputation, but is really in the middle fairly squarely for the last 2-3 years.

ABC= slightly conservative

NBC= right of middle to middle

CBS=Liberal mostly

That's what I observe watching them all from time to time.

Universities vary, but many prof's are more liberal, that is why they call a college education often a liberal education, it is designed to get you to think outside the box and liberal philosophies engender that more.

Most of the states seem to have at least one more liberal state supported Univ. and one more conservative.

Examples:
Oklahoma OSU Cons. OU more lib, but not overly.

TX: UT liberal A&M moderate TX Tech very cons.

KS K-State CONS. KU Liberal

Ariz: ASU lib AU cons.

etc, etc.

I chose liberal schools to make me more well rounded for all my degrees. Even the more conservative schools are more liberal than political conservatives usually are.

If there is a liberal media bias it would have to be slight. What hardcore conservatives see as liberal bias is what the rest of the world sees as "the news". It is much easier to believe that we can only trust one news station because they say so. Much like how an abusive spouse or parent says that "I am the only one who cares about you. Everyone else wants to hurt you."

The truth is, the situation in the USA is not good right now. The news reports that. Just because they don't dress it up and make it all rosey and tell you that everything is just fine does not make it liberal media bias. It's the truth. So go on, listen to that one bastion of truth that is Fox news, and don't ask questions as why no one else can be trusted.

As for universities, I suppose it depends entirely on the school. I went through college without a single professor trying to impose their beliefs on me... but there were both republican and democrat clubs.

Universities because they are leaning centers, and those that teach are more about ideals than money, now I am not saying those ideals are better or worse but they do tend to swing to the left. Talk radio is mostly a right wing bastion, and the likes of Rush and Hannity are the stars hands down. Newspapers are a mix but because readerships are down, other the liberal New York Times, they are a wash. Fox News being it's the White Houses favorite mouth piece, and even when the latest Ben Laden tape came out it was given to Fox to air first, maybe their are fewer on of the right wing on cable it is sure the strongest and well fed by the right. So maybe Conservatives do seem to have a slight edge, because they may have the most but they sure do have the strongest.

Mostly conservative, Under deregulation of the media, conservatives cleverly bought the majority. (Rupert Murdoch for instance)

Even if you have a liberal reporter, the boss controlls the stories. They print what the boss wants on the page the boss says.

I just read the other part. Universities are very similar. The heads of universities are overwhelmingly conservative. robert Gates was the head of one. Even if professors are liberal, they know they will be fired if they speak liberal. It happens all the time. History professors fired because they were "political". Politics and history go hand in hand but professors are no longer allowed to talk about it.

Reporters are no different than other employees. They do what they are told because they want to keep their job.

It's not about which side is the more liberal or conservative, but which sides is the most effective. Being the GOP has held the White House since 1980, other than 8 years of Clinton, and the congress other than 2006, and until recently most of the governors, I would say the GOP, they sure do have the most convincing. There is nothing like a little righteous indignation to get the voters to the poles from gay marriage to the Clinton's

I study a e book by technique of Dinesh D'Souza noted as (i imagine), "The Liberal Media" ...or.. "Why the Media is Liberal" or something like that. i comprehend Dinesh is the author, yet for the existence of me i won't be able to look to seek/hit upon the identify. yet I do remember it properly, and it turned right into a e book he wrote contained in the 1980's, i imagine. It turned right into a close and properly-written e book explaining via info, etc... properly documented... that the media DOES have a liberal bias. After interpreting that e book, there is no "idea" that the media is liberal, that is truth. Have a top-wing day!

Depends on the channel. I don't know of any media sources that are in the middle, that;s for sure.

Universities differ based on location. For the most part they are liberal. Because college is all about learning, and facts, and knowledge. After a few years of science, psychology, history, politics, etc, it's hard not to have Liberal views.

Both the media and the universities are far more liberal. However, talk radio is largely dominated by those with conservative viewpoints.

It appears to me that if the media or whatever doesn't back up the belief of the rigid thinking of some conservatives, it's automatically liberal, or commie, or whatever.

In other words, a huge cop out.

Slightly liberal on social issues, but was lock-step with the neocons to sell the war.

People generally come out of Universities more liberal because they expand their intellectual horizons. Professors are typically liberal, because it's hard to be conservative in an atmosphere where critical thinking is rewarded.
