My husband had one.
#1 - he's better than ever - no worries
#2 - he was surprised it wasn't more painful - just uncomfortable during. For some reason though, it wiped him out - he went home and slept for 12 hours!
#3 - a bit tender day two - he was basically 100% by day 3 - no complications
#4 - for risk info see here:http://www.vasectomy-information.com/moreinfo/risks.htm
Good luck!

I have 5 kids too and I have been snipped. Mine did nothing to change my sex drive. If anything it is stronger than ever.
There was almost no pain during the procedure. the only pain I had is after wards, when I shifted and the stitches would pull or something. Minor pain really.
The recovery time varies for each individual apparently. I felt pretty good in a couple of days and ready for anything in about a week or so.
The risks should really be discussed with your doctor but I can tell you what I do know. There are ongoing studies to review any increased risk of testicular cancer to vasectomies but, as of the time I had my procedure, there was no evidence linking the two. I did get an infection about two years after, in the small organ that surrounds each testicle (sorry but I forget what it is called) but antibiotics cleared it right up. The doctor said that can happen occasionally with vasectomy patients. No big deal.
I can tell you my sex life got a little better because of the lack of worry on my wife's part. Everything felt the same and worked the same. Neither my wife or I would have been able to tell the difference except that the semen looks a little different. (more clear and less white).

No, quit watching TV sitcoms.
#1 A vasectomy might actually improve your sex drive but that is only psychical, because a vasectomy has no physical effect.
#2 It hurts less than getting a tattoo, or body piercing.
#3 Recovery time is 2-5 days. I got mine on Friday, and was back to work on Monday. I was having sex again on the following weekend.
#4 None, or next to none. It carries less risk than a tattoo or a body piercing.

#1 No problem
#2 The pain you relate to your wife will keep you in the easy chair with a beer and ice bag for days. The reality is one maybe two days at most.
#3, Bowling after 3 days
#4, There was some study which attempted to link heart problems but that was discredited later.
Note, Ejaculate volume may be decreased but does not affect the feeling. It could affect your carrier in porn as the money shot will not be quite so spectacular.
My urologist made sure to point out there would be zero chance of his proceedure being undone. The added benifit is the tissue biopsy for testicular cancer.
If you are worried about it you can freeze some sperm ahead of time.
It really is a lot more involved to have your wife cut. Take care of this yourself.
Going on year 18 with no issues.

I've had a vasectomy done. It does NOT kill the sex drive.
There really isn't that much pain after it's done.
You have to sit with an ice pack on your balls for a couple days.
The recovery time is about a week or 2.
The only risks would be the possibility of an infection. But that's a very slim risk if the Dr. does it right.
Also after having it done, for the first few weeks after having it done, there is a possibility that you could still get your wife pregnant, because of sperm in the Vas that is going towards the penis, away from the cut a testicles.
Honestly I regret getting mine done, because my wife and I want more kids now.
But I can see why she wants you to get it done. But it should be a decision that you both make together.

I love all these women weighing in on the question of a vasectomy. You don't see men weighing in hysterectomies, do you?
#1. Doesn't do a thing to your sex drive. In fact, it might enhance hers.
#2. I practically skipped out of my procedure. In fact, the most uncomfortable part was when they poured cold water on Mr. Happy to wash him off.
#3. I was raking the yard that afternoon. What's more, I got plenty of good drugs. Not to mention how my wife pampered me for the rest of the weekend.
#4. If you have a good urologist, your risks are practically non-existent. No more than going to the dentist.
So, be a man and get it done. Unless, of course, you like the idea of raising another child or not having any more sex until your wife hits menopause.

#1. If anything, we have more sex since I did it.
#2. Not that much, little bit worse than a bee sting. I had the punch method, not the slice.
#3. I was playing Ice Hockey the next day. (The cup did help)
#4. A hell of a lot less than if your wife has to be put under. This is done with a local.
Want to have fun while it is being done, have a female MD do it for you.

1 - no, and just think all the sex you want and no worries about anyone getting pregnant.
2 - from what I understand not that bad. But then again I don't have testicles, but if you're considering a snip then I assume you are married or have children.....it is nothing compared to what your wife went through!
3 - a couple of days then you can go back to work, a couple of weeks before completely normal.
4 - infections, hematoma - but basically a very safe procedure.

Few guys I know are totally happy with their vasectomies. The worst part seems to be the little encysted bits of seminal fluid that has leaked out of tiny tears in your tubes. Ask your lady to look into an IUD before you let someone cut on you.
