!. There are a lot of second and third generation Armenian immigrants in other countries whose ancestors were either murdered or emigrated. There are an estimated 2 million in the US alone. When I was in high school in the 60s, an Armenian told me about the genocide.
2. Turkey has tried to join the European Union. There are many Armenians through out Europe. The EU does not want to let anyone in, who cannot acknowledge their brutal past. Other European countries have also recently condemned Turkey for the Armenian genocide.
3. Turkey today feels threatened by a Kurdish state. There are Kurds living in Turkey. Turkey has it's own agenda in Northern Iraq.
