The only way to get additional free space on your hard drive is to remove some of the stuff already on it.
Copy any music, pictures, videos, documents, etc that you can to a CD or DVD. You will still be able to use them, you will just have to play them from the CD rather then the hard drive.
Then uninstall any programs that you can live without. Go to the Control Panel and the Add/Remove Program and look down the list of Installed Programs. Anything you can survive without, click on it and uninstall (remove) it.
Once done, you will want to defrag the hard drive. Defragging with NOT get you more hard drive space, but it will rearrange the remaining files in an order that will let your computer access them quicker and run faster. You should always defrag after deleting a lot of files.
Finally, you might consider investing in either a new (larger) hard drive for inside or your computer, or an external USB hard drive. That will give you more storage space so that six months from now you are not back in the same situation.

If your computer only has a 10 GB hard drive, the time has probably come for an upgrade. Most OUTDATED computers have at least 20 GB. If you MUST reduce space on your current machine, try going to "start" ->"control panel" -> then to add remove programs or performance and maintance then free up space on your hard disk.
Another method might also be to back up critical files which are taking up space onto a flash stick or CD.

If that's a heavily infested gadget, it relatively is extra effective to apply the restoration disc that got here with you computer and reinstall the OS or an XP cd in case you haven't any longer have been given it, as an antivirus run ought to delete some gadget records alongside the way (as trojans in many cases replace gadget executables) and you will nevertheless get a screwed gadget, in simple terms circulate your important records to a diverse computer with the flash usbcontinual till now you do it.

It can be hard to track down missing space...
One easy solution (if you are using windows) is compression - right click on a directory select properties - on the frist tab click the 'advanced' button and you will find a tick box for 'compress' - tick the box, tick apply (or OK) and watch your space come back!
Compression must have some effect on performance, so don't compress games directories, or system directories - but all your documents/data etc should be fine.

9.29GB is simply TOO LOW. Get at least a 40GB hard disk, so that you will have more free space. There isn't any way to have more than 2-3GB free space on a 9GB hard disk.

If you're running XP, and you pretty much have any programs loaded, you're probably maxed. You should get a new hard drive. Last resort, go to control panel, add/remove programs, and start removing programs you don't use very often.
