I think it's too easy to take things the wrong way when you can't hear the tone in which something is said. You know what I mean?

Yes it's very easy to take something the wrong way when you are reading it instead of writing it.

I have made a few internet friends over the years that I have yet to meet physically but I already totally treasure their friendships. I think it doesn't matter where you make a friend as long as there is respect & honesty in the friendship.

Sure you can.
I've met some truly wonderful people on line including yourself. It's not uncommon to take something the wrong way every once in a while and those on here need to realize that.
For me, I'm more open on here, as you know I talk about things I never bring up with the people I have physical contact with everyday. It's almost like a safe place to show that side of yourself that doesn't get out very often. I consider some of my on line friends better friends than the ones I hang around with. I wouldn't let it discourage you from having friends on here. People need to understand this isn't a perfect forum for communication, but it is a good one.
OK I'm done lol

I know for a fact they can. I started emailing a certain young man (you know who you are) several months ago; we actually met here on Y!A. After a few months of emailing, we exchanged numbers. Even though he lives 2300 miles away, we talk almost everyday...sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I truly care for this man, and he has become a good friend, even though I wish it could be more. I feel as if I've known him my whole life. He's a wonderful man, funny, intelligent, and sometimes frisky, sometimes stubborn but he's charming. I can't imagine not talking to him. It's the highlight of my day because he is someone I know I can laugh and joke with or b*tch to when I have a bad day. He's great!! =)

I agree with you!! It's very hard sometimes for people to know when you are joking around or to know when they are joking around!! I have one person that it special to me but there has been a few times that it has gotten challenging but we care enough about each to take the time and we have worked those kinks out!! Now if we are not sure about something we let the other person know and they or I will explain what we meant!! I believe that I have made a few true friends here!! True enough that we have begun to have phone communications as well!!

I think you can find very honest people I met a boyfriend through the net and we are still very close you see internet can be the first step to a real friendship from which something else can happen but be very careful there a lot of pervs out there...don't trust too much ok.

I think it's quite possible. I've made some great friends on here and I really do like them.

As for taking things the wrong way, I do know what you mean, however; if you get to know the person/s you come to realise it's all fun and games and it's just their warped sense of humour coming out.....ahhhh bless 'em!

((hugs))

I do know what you mean. I've been through that where you might be joking and they take you serious or vice versa. Even so, i still have some great internet friends.
