I am for it and I also think the process of putting someone to death takes way to long. Why do some sit on death row for decades and decades AFTER being sentenced to death?
I agree with it mainly because the victim never got a chance at a full life, so neither should the guilty party. Why does this guilty person get to play God and select who lives and dies?
I hear about the "flaws" in our justice system. I'm sure there have been a few unfortunate souls who may have gotten the Death Penality or even put to death by accident. However, with this day and age and technology and forensic testing, the chanes are reduced even more than before.
The decision of making someone be miserable by living out a life sentence should only be made by the victims family. If the victims family want to spare the guilty parties life, then they, as the victims, should have the right to tell the judge that they only want a life sentence and not the death penalty.
Also, as someone put, it in a way depends on the situation. In my opinion if you kill a kid...you should go to the front of the line. A death sentence should also be allowed in certain cases of child molestation and rape when the victim is younger than 10. For the mothers and fathers who shoot, beat to death, drown etc...their kids, they get Death. If you kill a Police Officer, Federal Agent, Military Personnel (acting in their capacity) Prision Guards...you get Death.
These, of course are my own opinions, and I do agree with an eye for and eye and a tooth for tooth.

You don't have to condone brutal crimes or want the criminals who commit them to avoid a harsh punishment to ask whether the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and whether it risks killing innocent people.
124 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.
The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.
We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.
The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.
The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?
The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.
Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

I am completely for the death penalty. I do have different aspects of it though.
I believe a murderer should be put to death the same way he committed the murder.
Pedophiles should be put to death as well. I don't believe there is a chance in hell they will change. I think a very slow painful death would work there. Same for rapists. I think certain anatomy should be taken off and left to bleed as well.
I think public hanging should be brought back and so should firing squads. Why wait for the "time to be up" in prison? They did wrong, get rid of em now.
Clean up the prisons, and the streets for sure.

I do not agree with the death penalty. It's pretty much following the concept of an eye for an eye by saying if you kill someone you are put to death. Besides I think the life sentence is a harsher punishment anyway. I'd go crazy sitting a jail cell for the rest of my life.

It's a good idea however because of flaws in the justice system it should only be used in cases involving uncontrollable prison inmates. There you have much better surveillance and KNOW the individual is guilty.
It's certainly better than what's happening now. What do you do with a individual who's only mission in life now is to prove how bad he is?
It would make system much safer for staff and the majority of the population who just want to do their time.

Hi
I agree that there should be a death penalty. For example murder of a police officer and for a mass murderer.
There appears to be no deterant for any crime at present - we need one.

It is barberic.
In rare cases gives some saticfaction to the vitim's dear ones.
Two wrong does not make one correct.
Life term prison without peroll woud be more fitting, gives the offender time to think and repent about the crime. In case of new evidence the misstake in judgement can be corrected.

It should be used on anyone that simply should never be released from prison under any circumstances. If the sentence obviously means they will never get out, just put them down. No sense spending good money feeding them.
