Very easily. But why go for a demonic fire god of battle? To mean anything the name must come from his parents and be part of his heritage. If he adapts it himself, for the purposes you state, it is fake and means little.
Poor kid would be nicknamed "B*alls" within moments of reaching kindergaarten!

There are at least 30 gods of fire and war who have come and gone from mankind over the past few thousand years. Why choose one who has such an evil side when there others who are beneficent?
Personally I am not impressed by people who name themselves after demons or the things of evil. And believe me, kiddo, I have been involved in such things for much longer than you have been alive.
When people take on a name, they subtly grow into it. But that does not guarantee psychic or magical ability... or the intelligence to handle such things with the skill, precision and care that is required.
However, if this Balthazar had other great skills to draw upon, perhaps author, artist, revolutionary, educator, healer, or whatnot, then the name is awesome.

I don't know about the rest of these people, but if Balthazar came up to me in a dark ally I would probably strip down and say take me now!
