I have found a wonderful apt. but due to credit need a cosigner that makes $160k. I don't know anyone that makes this much. I have a good steady job and can easily afford rent but just need to be approved for the lease. Any ideas?

Find another apt.

Every apt building has their own criteria form accepting renters. You may not fit the criteria of one building, but may fit another.

With no co-signer you really have no choice.

Although every landlord or managing company has their set of criteria, it is possible to get them to consider rental applications outside their set criteria. Explain to them why your credit is not that great (if there's an explanation that doesn't make you look worse), why you will be able to pay rent and then demonstrate it by offering to either prepay several months rent and offer a larger security deposit or offer several months rent as a security deposit.

Although landlords try to find renters that fall neatly into their criteria, with added security they may consider others. They just want to know that the rent will be paid and paid on time.

Good Luck.

$160k?? How much is the rent?? That would be a $4,000 a month apartment!

If you need a co-signor and don't have one that meets the landlord's requirements then you can't rent the apartment!
