aww that sucks. I have lost two dogs (while I was still living at home) the first died from eating a pine cone (it tore into his intestines) and the second died from a heart murmur. I have a golden retriever now with my family and I am dreading the day when she passes away...

Because the school is not mandating a particular type of religious prayer...or any prayer at all! It is allowing the students to exercise their freedom of religion. The student has the freedom to do nothing at all. All that is demanded of them is that they be quiet for a brief moment. The First Amendment of the Constitution states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. The government doesn't have the authority, under the Constitution to prohibit the free exercise of any religion. Let the kids pray if they want to. Cheers, Diana

*bows head in silence* >>>> So sorry to hear that! It's never easy to loose a pet, especially for the kids! Hope you're son's doing alright... We also lost a hamster to our dog about 2 years ago now. He had jumped up on the dresser & knocked the cage down & when we came home & the kids went running back to see their hamster they found the dog chewing it on the bed! Soooooo sad! My son didn't eat or hardly talk for like 2 days! :((

My pets are family members too and I grieve for them. Is good to show your child compassion for animals.
I remember our kids first Teddy hamster. His name was Sugar Plum, was cinnamon brown. All we could see was his face and paws. He died as I held him when he was 3 1/2.

Awe sorry to hear that it's tough on a kid losing a pet , my daughter has a pet gerbil which caught a cold and died and she still mentions it occasionally a year and a half later.

we have lost a pet he was a manx cat his name was sputnick orange color, no tail, and manx cats do not run like other cats their hind legs are in unison sort of like a rabbit running, anyway he got hit by some idiot driving to fast and of course he left him there to die, so yes a moment of silence for "nibbles" the hamster.

Poor hamster, when I was younger and my hamster died(baby) my mom buried it outside my window. Kinda creepy now, but then, it really helped.
