I currently have 2 X 512Mb DDR400 Samsung sticks working at DDR333 speed(166Mhz or smth like that). Can i add another 1GB at the same speed (DDR333) on a ASrock P4V88+ ?
(The manufacturer sais that it can work if the sticks are DDR333 (up to 4 can be added), however the 2 512Mb ones i have, although they both are DDR400 are auto set by bios to run as 2 DDR333's.)
Thanx for ur help.

In this case, you already know the specification of your RAM and also your motherboard, in my opinion your new RAM can be install to your motherboard. Which means you got a perfect combination for clock speed of your RAM that is DDR333 means PC2700 and also you still got 2 slot available for 1GB stick.

Also the conversion from PC3200 (DDR400) downgraded are normal for any kind/types of motherboard. This is because the voltage and clock need to be exact or same speed clock, or else your CPU won't understand how much your RAM provide. So basically you can install the 1GB stick onto motherboard except you're planning for DDR2 or DDR3 the new generation. If you're planning to get new gen of RAM then you'll need a new set of motherboard to support your RAM or else your PC will have some lag or do not perform optimal in terms of speed.

it ought to be the two that the motherboard would not settle for/know extra desirable than 512MB of ram or it ought to be that the snap shots card makes use of 512MB of the 1GB yet I doubt that. I checked the motherboard and it would not seem the difficulty of accepting the ram so i'm no longer thoroughly particular...solid success

It will work just fine.

But I would suggest getting DDR400 for the new sticks as well. That way if you upgrade the CPU later, the memory can operate at 400mhz.

If you were to have two different speeds installed, it will always default to the slowest speed memory you have installed.

With your computer, you should have gotten a manual or user's guide - probably not printed. Go to Start, Programs, locate your computer's icon -- look for a right arrow -- click it to see if there is a user's guide or manual on disk. Somewhere it will give you your PC's specs and tell you how much RAM it will tolerate. For example, I have a Toshiba laptop and it clearly tells me it will take up to 2048mb RAM.

It's possible but to make sure go to the site below and run a scan. It will advise you of what your computer can handle.
