Redheads have more sex
Blondes may have more fun but redheads have more sex, according to new research in Germany.
The study by Hamburg Sex Researcher Professor Dr Werner Habermehl looked at the sex lives of hundreds of German women and compared them with their hair colour.
He said: "The sex lives of women with red hair were clearly more active than those with other hair colour, with more partners and having sex more often than the average. The research shows that the fiery redhead certainly lives up to her reputation."
He added that women who dyed their hair red from another colour were signalling they were looking for a partner, and added: "Even women in a fixed relationship are letting their partners know they are unhappy if they dye their hair red. They are saying that they are looking for something better."
Psychologist Christine Baumanns said however that it may not be the women who were to blame for the better sex lives of redheads.
She said: "Red stands for passion and when a man sees a redhead he will think he is dealing with a woman who won't mess around, and gets straight to the point when it comes to sex."

Here's the trick: If you can convince a group of people that something is so, many of them will show every psychological and physical sign that it is not only so but that it must be so.
It has been demonstrated time and again, for example, that just giving people a sugar pill (a.k.a. a 'placebo') and TELLING them it is medicine can be JUST as effective as the medicine at times (yes, studies show 100% effectiveness in some cases).
And if just thinking something is so can eliminate pain, drastically alter blood pressure and metabolism, and the like, then none of the other effects you attribute to having red hair are beyond the pale either.
So YES. Redheads who BELIEVE that their hair makes them have a higher sex drive PROBABLY DO. And conversely, non-redheads who believe redheads have a higher sex drive are more likely to proposition redheads for sex, which will likely make redheads believe that they are more sexy. None of these things have anything to do with the colour of the hair itself... just how people THINK about it.
Peace.

This is what I have read in a recent article, "redheaded women have more sexual intercourse then woman of other hair colors". I am sorry I don't have a link or remember the exact statistics. If it is true, I wonder why.
And I know nothing about the pain tolerance, but know that redheads often require a stronger dose of anesthesia to "knock them out" then most others.

Contrary to all the jokes about the topic (and there are some really funny ones), there's no connection between hair color and sex drive. So, no, a redhead woman wouldn't automatically be wilder than a blonde or a brunette. I do have an ex-girlfriend who was a redhead and pretty wild (**extremely** wild in her younger days), but it had to do with her personality and background, not her hair color.

Yes, and higher IQs, phenomenal psychic powers, and sadly, an expiration date—we’re supposed to be genetically eliminated in the next 100 years. So we have to make an impression while we can. *Fantastic* excuse, right? ;-)
If you want a scientific answer, the attraction to red hair is not just a matter of psychology, it’s evolution. The same desirability is evident in other animals. Mammals developed color vision in order to better discover food. So a primitive part of the mind still sees red and thinks “Ooh, ripe fruit!” We have a biological fascination with the color.
The rest of the mythos is ambiguous. One study showed that red heads require more anesthetic and another that they require less painkiller. The bleeding myth isn’t true. Supposedly there is higher bruising, but my (untested) theory is that slight bruises are simply easier to spot on the inevitably pale skin that accompanies red hair.
As for the alleged temper problem—we’re only angry because strangers stop us every five feet to talk to us about our hair. I have places to go! My standard response is, “I’ll leave it to you when I die.” I've promised countless people. I‘m hoping my death will be memorialized by a vicious, earth-shattering court battle.
:-)

Here's a non-scientific response, based on first hand experience:
Sex drive: I've not studied other people's habits in that department. However, some people believe the myth is true, and if it is believed, then it IS true. In addition L'Oreal did a study on hair colour and came up with this data;
a) Blondes are considered more attractive/appealing by men and in fact, they do have "more fun". But the fun is all play, and men seldom settle down with blondes. They don't marry their playmates....
b) Redheads are the least likely to be approached or flirted with, or asked out on dates. I don't quite agree with this - red dye colours are more popular now than ever. "Why so" I wonder?
c) Brunettes are most likely to be a man's choice as a marriage partner - they are not flashy, are less likely to roam, and are considered stable and loyal.
By the way, of all hair dye colours, red is the most difficult to duplicate in dye tints, and lasts the shortest length of time, washing out the most quickly over all other shades.
Lower pain threshold: popping pills is for wimps. This has nada to do with hair colour - it's about having a strong mind. According to QT (who sounds really scientific on this topic), redheads are more intelligent, hence they likely have better focus and can as a consequence, determine to NOT feel pain because they are just too busy creating the unification theory. It's also rumoured that left-handed people are more intelligent, and being both a redhead and left-handed, I'm much more likely to support these theories than the sex-maniac one. Perhaps we need to do a study to see if more redheads are left-handed.
Bleed more: When I delivered my daughter, I was kept in hospital for 5 days for this reason. The head nurse - also a redhead - said in an effort to calm me down, "it's because we have fewer layers of skin and bleed more easily...." It is true that redheads have fewer layers of skin and burn in the sun quickly. This is also why redheads tend towards to "freckling".
Temper: my mother always used to say.... "You've got red hair and a temper to match." At this point I'd take a break from ranting and ask for clarification, "I thought you said my hair is copper gold...." Hence it might also be said, in 'rash generalization' terms only, that redheads are also nitpicky.

you say that like we're a scientific experiment... i'm a redhead. i do have a high pain tolerance, but that's just me. i don't think the colour of your hair will change anything. it depends on the person, not the hair colour.
