My son told my daughter that I (his mother) was the strongest person he ever knew and that was meant as a compliment in that he knew when I had a conviction, I stick with it and don't give in to criticism from anyone. That made me a good mother (all of my children are now adults) and have since received compliments from everyone that knows any of my children that I have very good, well-mannered children and that I raised them well. That is the best compliment anyone can have that you raised your children well.

That according to some folks I admire, I'm a witty first-rate poet.
This came from two people, one a famous playwright & hero to me who read my zine, the other a talented singer/songwriter I had just met online who read my postings & wanted to put my poems to music, because we share a lot in common and write about the same issues. I'm getting a swelled head, because the playwright was none other than Edward Albee!

I have two. The first one is when my husband, whom I'd just met, told me that I had the most beautiful brown eyes he'd ever seen. Now I realize that he was just trying to flatter me, but I still thought that it was sweet. The other is when I saw someone I hadn't seen in a long time, and he walked up to me and said, "Well, pretty as ever!" Little did he know that that is my favorite line from my favorite movie, so that made it much more special. :)

Still not sure if it was directed at me, or if I was just coincidentally paying attention at that moment. A girl asked her companion "Who is THAT?" like she had just crossed a desert and i was the last glass of water on Earth. And when the answer was (my name) it was said liek I was something.

that my best quality was honesty in everything I do, including being honest about who I am and being "real", if you will :)
Another great one that I'll never forget is being in a room with an artist and having him being inspired to draw me, because obviously he saw something beautiful in me. "I have to draw you" I believe were the words. Amazing compliment.
