WELFARE?
Unless you know the situation than you have no right to judge!

A spouse or partner could suddenly pass away
An unexpected layoff
Sudden illness with astronomical medical bills
Inability to work because of sudden illness.
Believe me, its not all its cracked up to be, and it is by no means a free ride.
I have worked full time since I was 16, and have paid my dues.
I had to recieve temp. assistance to help me out for a minute because I was left by a crackhead deadbeat husband who drained everything he possibly could.
I dont believe in it as a permanent source of income, but it is there for anyone who may need it.

I look at it this way, I paid into the system, but didnt get anywhere near that in return.

To Jessi~ grab an oar, we are in the same boat.
My ex owes me at this time over $53,000 and I have never, and will probably never see it.

I think it is a good temporary option for assistance. As long as the single parent is working twoards a goal to eventually be able to make it without governemtn assistance. I was a single mom and received assitance one time, and it really helped me to get on my feet. I was able to use the money I would have spent on Insurance and food on past due bills, and to pay off medical expenses. Once I paid those off I was able to afford the insurance without the assistance. I feel like anyone who works should not be ashamed to use the assistance to help them get on their feet. If you work you pay the same taxes as everyone else, and that money goes twoards assistance to help others down the road.

My heart goes out to single parents everywhere. They are doing the most important job in the world and they are doing it alone. God Bless 'em all.

When used constructively, I think it is a means of getting back on your feet, going back to school, and getting a better job to support your family.

I feel sorry for them that they have to do it. If more of their spouses would step up to the plate and do their part they probably wouldn't need to go on welfare. Everybody needs help sometimes.

I just hope they're trying to improve their income and get off it. I knew a lady who wouldn't get married and have to claim her bf's income so she could just sit on her @ss all day and get welfare, food stamps and Medicaid. Lazy cow!
