Multiply each side by x to get rid of the fraction

2x + 5 = 7x

Subtract 2x from each side to get the x's on one side

5 = 5x

Divide by 5 to get x alone

1 = x

Plug 1 back in for x to see if it works out

2 + 5/1 = 7
2 + 5 = 7
7 = 7

Hope this helps

Subtract 2 from both sides to remove the 2 on the left.
5/x = 5

To remove the x on the left, multiply both sides with x.
5 = 5x
Divide both sides with 5 to obtain the value for x.
5x = 5
x = 1
