Why is my monitor not working? It is black and there is nothing on the screen, there is the little green light blinking every second, but apart from that, nothing. Help please, I have tried everything.

You see this is a problem, where and what does the graphic card look like?

You do not provide enough information to say where the problem is.

Unplug the monitor. Does it show a 'check signal cable', or similar message? If not, check the monitor's user manual, some cheap ones do not, but typically you should see something, so if you do not your monitor is suspect.

Check the cable connections are secure and that ther eare no bent pins. (Usually not a problem unless the monitor has been unplugged recently)

If you can try a different monitor. If you can try your monitor on a different system.

When you turn the system on, do the fans come on and the hard drives spin up? If not then the power supply is probably bad.

If they do spin up, do the hard drives 'chatter' for a minute or so? This is normal while Windows loads. If not, then I would suspect that the CPU or the memory are bad, possibly the hard or optical drives.

If the monitor produce a test message, and the hard drive chatter away normally then I would look at replacing the video card.

Good luck.

Is the computer turned on? did you EVER see anything on the monitor when your computer was booting up? Can you test the Monitor on some other computer? Its either your graphic card is having problems (this is what sends the signal to the monitor) or your monitor is having problems. The best way to test it is if you can swap monitors with another one. (that you knows works)

do you have multiple video out ports on your computer? your monitor may be plugged in to an inactive port or your system may be treating the primary display adapter as a secondary adapter. You can adjust that in your system BIOS, but you'd have to plug the monitor into the other port to see the BIOS.

Make sure cables are all connected.
Make sure the graphics card hasnt moved out of its slot.
Make sure its in the right port of the card.

Keep tampering with it, iv had this problem plenty of times and its usually the cable falling out of its port or the video card slotting out of position.

if you've checked the cables and everything and nothing is loose, two solutions. Reset your BIOS password (http://www.dewassoc.com/support/bios/bios_password.htm)
and if that doesn't help, your video card is bad and needs to be replaced.

Check your connections and if they are all ok, could be time for a new monitor!

Have you on your PC?
Have you put the correct signal cable?
Do the signal plug have broken pins?
