Rudy Giuliani likes to travel in style.
That's what can be deduced by looking through Giuliani's campaign spending report, which shows the former New York mayor has routinely stayed in posh hotels while on the road, and seems to lack confidence in the quality of commercial air carriers.
$2,010 at the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia
$4,034 at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., or $5,370 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. He also spent more than $565,000 reimbursing various corporate supporters for private jet travel. The biggest chunk of those flights came via Elliott Asset Management, a New York hedge fund known by some as a "vulture fund," so-named because they buy debt cheaply from cash-starved countries, and then sue them for the full repayment. The head of the firm, Paul Singer, is in charge of Northeastern fundraising for Giuliani.
Giuliani spent another $800,000 on charter jet travel.

You would think the Dems would use this as a "counter slur" against the Repubs but all of them have taken advantage of the perks so I guess they feel they shouldn't say anything, but one of the things I don't like about the GOP is that they will point out things like the $400 haircut and turn it into a talking point running it into the ground, Example, Obama's flag pin. Take a small thing and turn it into a character assassination. Libs do it too but not to the extent like "Gore is fat isn't he" ? "Hillary showing too much cleavage" ! "Is Obama Black enough ?"

As much as I would like to I can't take the GOP seriously if they keep diverting from serious issues.

And you're saying Edwards, Clinton and Obama stay at Motel 6?

Unless and until you compare the costs of all the candidates, singling one out, outside the context of conducting a campaign, including travel & lodging for staffers, etc, then this information is of no value.

It seems like a cheap attempt to attack Giuliani. I'm sure it will fool a lot of folk who deadline an EEG.

I read about this yesterday. Edwards' $400 haircut was definitely a waste of money, but easily reimbursable out of pocket if necessary.

If I was a Giulini supporter and saw how my money was being spent, I would immediately stop donating and ask for my donations back.

Especially considering that John McCain is flying coach and staying in Motel 6's right now.

Since the Texas governor's mansion is being worked on, Texas taxpayers have to pay $9,900 a month for the house Governor Rick Perry is renting. Mike Huckabee chose to save money and stay in a manufactured home when the Arkansas mansion was being worked on.

All of this is pretty normal for a campaign. What about Mitt Rmoney spending 600 dollars per vote in Iowa? That kind of makes the rest of the candidates lower class.

The Greenbrier is a very nice place, and in fact has underground facilities to house Congress and other parts of the US Govt in case of a nuclear attack...You see, Osama bin Laden is not the only person who thinks hiding in cavernous limestone to be a good thing..

Every candidate abuses the millions of dollars provided for their campaign. Thank McCain for the reform to reduce the chance that the funding will influence the winners decision making process.

What do you think about this? Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick spent $15,000 on a set of curtains for his office. Talk about ridiculous.
