Yep. RealVNC properly configured can be used to do this quite easily. The free release can be found here: http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/download.html
download it and fiddle with the configurations on your childs pc so that you can't take over mouse and keyboard or leave it so you can. Good luck ;)

Watch? like what they are doing online? If both of your computers go out through the same modem/router then you should be able to see what "traffic" is moving through the router.
The wireless gateway at our house when you log into it lets you view like the last 100 so traffic that was sent through. some is just IP address but a lot are websites that were visted.
