Hate to say it, but because you are its mother, to the baby bird you are a direct threat. Most likely this bird will not feed from you no matter what you try and give it. It most likely will either die of shock or starvation. It is a very sad thing, but it's nature. I've found many a baby bird in my life and all have died no matter how hard I tried to keep them alive by feeding them.
I hope that it will take food from you though. Keep trying! I suggest mashed up earthworms or crickets and you can feed it with a syringe or tube feeder. Go to your local pet store and ask what they use.
Good luck!

Same thing recenlt happened to me, for the first few days if it's healthy enough, try a meaty baby food with a straw that's been cut down the middle, and kinda shaped like a spoon. If he keeps getting better try feeding him wet bread and raw ground beef, in little amounts. It's the closest thing to worms I could think of. And sooner or later you're going to need to get vitamins in him, so pick up a baby, or childrens vitamin and crush it up and put it into what ever your feeding him. Just don't over dose him on the vitamins

I found a baby woodpecker that small a few years ago. I had to syringe feed it for a few months and slowly add in worms and grubs and stuff. Just google it. After awhile I took him to a bird santuary place and they took him. But I had it for quite awhile...he tought I was his mom. Rode around onmy shoulders, I taught him to fly.

Its alot of work. They need to be fed every few hours round the clock. And kept warm!!

Good luck. I hope it lives!!

That's very sweet that you are trying to save this sparrow, but you need to realize that even if you do everything you can it still may not survive.
Try posting this question in the Pets > Birds section. I believe someone there might have better advice.
Good Luck!

You need to go to the pet store and get some baby bird food and a syringe to fee it. They need to be few several times a day and yes they need to be kept warm. There are explicit instructions on how to prepare and tend to the needs of a baby bird. You can even look up information online.

Here is a good site for you to start off with.

Call a vet and see if there are any wildlife rehabilitation centers nearby. I don't want to be a downer, but there is little chance that it will live under your care. In the wild it gets semi-digested regurgitated food from its mom, which you can't provide.

Yeah, I think Sparrows are better off with mashed-up bugs and worms and such!

go to a fish and bait store and get earthworms and crickets. Seeds are fine but as a growing bird it needs more nutrition (protein etc.).

keep its surrounding warm, get some worms and cut them to small pieces, give some water/milk, try to put it at window or a tree (in cage so that it wont fell down) to get fresh air...
