I live in a house of 10 other people and they may choose to stay and may not be responsible enough to take over the month to month lease. I'd like to know if there could be any legal repercussions towards me if the other housemates choose to "squat".

If your name is on the lease, you will be considered to be "holding over." In many jurisdictions a tenant who is holding over can be held responsible for double or treble rents for the holdover period.

If one of the other tenants may hold over, make SURE that they work out arrangements with the landlord.

If the others are on the lease as well, make SURE that the landlord understands that YOU are the only person included in the notice!

If you are the only one on the lease you are responsible for making sure the rental is empty at the end of 30 days. I am sure they could collect something if you are not vacated by then.

If you're all on the lease then you're all equally legally responsible. If you have a 'nice' landlord he/she may look at your individually and treat it as such. But like I said you're all equally legally responsible for carrying out the lease.
