While I am not a qualified MD (A degreed Horticulturist and musician) I hang with quite a few doctor friends, and am aware of one female gynecologist mentioning a problem of a similar nature when discussing some sexual issues.

First of all, the pill will affect your menstrual cycle (but without knowing the exact medicine you are taking this is speculative and you should consult a professional) the pill alters certain harmones and usually prevents (in some drugs) the cycle where the egg moves to the Uterus and attaches to the Uterine wall, so fertilized or not, it is simply eliminated. Some other types cause the egg to be absorbed. As far as I know from research, the pill does not stop or shouldn't stop the period, and I have heard that it takes a few months or several weeks for you body to adjust to the regimen. In other words, it doesn't offer protection right from the get go, and when starting the pill, one should use back up protection (condoms, diaphrams or whatever), which means if you just started it say one week ago and have unprotected sex, you could get pregnant with some rather curious consequences. Any unexplained or unusual bleeding should not be ignored and is grounds for an immediate consultation with a medical professional, which I am not, nor could an MD offer much of an opinion via this forum without knowing you, your history and an in-person examination. Regardless, see a doctor, and if it turns out to be nothing at all, or a normal side affect of a particular prophylaxis, then no harm done but the loss of a few almighty dollars, if you fail to see a doctor and just "hope this goes away" or attempt to "pray it away" and it is something else, perhaps having nothing to do with the pill, or pregnancy then things could get rather ugly fast. Better to be safe, see your gynecologist ASAP, and hopefully all will be well.

If you've only been taking the pill for a month then its a possibility. It takes around 3 months for the pill to get into your system and start working. Or atleast thats what my doctor told me. The only thing for you to do is take a test. And if you were already on your period and stopped bleeding after you had sex it is still too early to know. Take a really good test, and/or wait until your next period.

Well From experience This is Normal ... You are not pregnant ... If you took the pill everyday around the same time there is no way in he*l you could be pregnant ... Just calm down and continue to take your pills... But if you are still worried go to your doctors and have a pregnancy test done ...

I think you should be fine. I remember hearing that you only need back-up birth control during the first month of taking pills, and it sounds like you completed the first pack already. It may take up to three months for your body to adapt to the hormones in the pills though, so don't worry too much if you show symptoms that are a little different from what you're used to.

You might of stopped bleeding because you did have sex. Usually the doctors say don't have sex unprotected when you first start the pill, but you been on it for a month now so I really think it's nothing to worry about. Always remember nothing isn't 100% sure unless you don't hav sex at all.

no dont worry you can not be pregnant. if you were bleeding when you had sex, it means you could not have gotten pregnant. you probably stopped bleeding afterwards because it was just time for you period to end. especially since you are on the pill, you are safe. it only takes 1 week of being on the pill before you are protected from pregnancy so one month is fine. you arent pregnant!

YOu should be ok if you finished the first month of pills. Your bleedding should stop and your periods should become regular. BUT, I would simply take a pregnancy test in a few days and find out.

Go back to the doctor or clinic that prescribed the pill for you. They will be more than happy to help you with any problems you may have. Sometimes it takes a bit for your body to adjust to the pill and sometimes you may need to change the prescription. This is a medical matter and you need the advice of a professional. Good Luck!

BCPs are thought to have some degree of efficacy right away and full efficacy after 7 days.

it's very unlikely that you would get pregnant on them.

Anything's possible, but don't freak out. The pill is very effective. The blood doesn't mean anything.

If you had sex, yes you could be pregnant.

You have a very limited time to take Plan-B. Please see a pharmacist and discuss your options. You can get it at Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, just about anywhere that has a pharmacy. In the future, please protect yourself. No lecture - but a condom is really the best way to make sure you don't have these worries in the future. The pill is great, but I wouldn't gamble my future on it. Good luck & God bless.
