Interspersed with ex-convicts who, while serving a prison sentence, converted to Islam and became an activist, does NPR schedule any programs that cast a positive light on America?

I've heard the news reported on the station but the shows seem to fit a pattern.

Pebbles, you made me laugh!

And I agree that if the content is unsatisfactory, then one should not participate.

Ever since I heard an afternoon talk show run by the national staff where one of the guests said that we should never go to war since the goal of war was to destroy the enemy by having our soldiers "rape their women" I was sure that something had gone terribly wrong. No one on the show disputed that statement and there was considerable discussion that our soldiers would be no different than the Serbs.

How anyone could make that claim without a dissenting voice and live in this country is completely beyond me. Yet it was on "NATIONAL" public radio. I have since not listened so I can no longer speak to whether this continues.

I actually called in and spoke to the producer who informed me that my concerns would be noted but that I would not be permitted to challenge the speaker's theory as they were "investigating a widely held school of thought about military action" and wanted to fully "explore its ramifications". Unfortunately they didn't label the program as fiction or opinion.

Technically when they're picturing Jesus on the Cross, He should be naked. The loincloth was added in art later to hide his circumcision - people were always crucified naked to add to the humiliation, and pagans didn't want to know their new god was born a Jew. However, calling Christianity effeminate bolsters the idea that only females have the qualities of peace, mercy and humility, which everyone knows is utter crap. More likely that you are correct that they attack homosexuals solely from their own repressed desire, with little to nothing to do with the fact they 'love Christ.' And besides that, women are more often turned off by violent displays of stereotypical machismo, so if that's actually the plan it's likely that it's backfiring.

NPR has something called "journalism". This is a foreign concept to right wing news shows.

My dad is a conservative republican NRA member. He told me recently that he only listens to NPR news because thats the only station he can find where people don't try to tell him what to believe and just gives him the news.

Fox News:Lying fascistic males and overly made-up slutty bimboish talking heads?
interspersed with the latest Britney Spears news and the usual avoidance of news from Iraq other than Michelle Malkin agitprop cheering the war on?

I've heard the news rarely on the station, but the shows don't seem to fit a pattern. They're obvious winger propaganda.

Beatchanter couldn't be more incorrect about NPRs affiliation.

I have tried listening to it many times and will try again once I buy some more Advil.
The slow monotonous drawl the whining and hand wringing make it hard to listen to for me. I keep expecting them to start singing Kum By Yah any damn minute if they don't bore their own self's to sleep.

National Public Radio couldn't make it in the free market any more than Air America because they can't sell air time to sponsors because not enough people listen to them.
WHY see the beginning of this.

Does NPR ever really get to the point?

Ever notice that while their essays go on and on about the plight of American workers being opressed by corporate maga machines, at the end they say.......

This program has been made possible through a grant from, Monsanto, Dupont, Exxon, General motors, Texas insturments, Ford motor credit.........etc. ?????

What's up with that?

Juan Williams and Mara Laiason have shows on NPR, so it can't be all bad.

(Does anyone actually listen to NPR?)

If you don't like hearing the truth, then just tune in to Rush Speedball and go back to your propaganda induced coma.
