Can you name any time in our history where CONGRESS tried to censure a private citizen for exercising their rights of free speech?
Ya gotta hand it to Rush, though...He has certainly turned lemons to lemonade by auctioning off the actual letter and giving the proceeds to a Marine Corps charity...This is not a new charity for him, BTW. He's been on the board of directors for years and is matching the final bid with his own money, BTW.
Your thoughts?

xusersx...Yeah, but MoveOn.org is NOT an official government body. That makes it a very different situation.

Not particularly historical, but for people that know how stupid this makes the signers look, it's hysterical.
Xuser, the difference between the Republican condemnation of Moveon and this particular letter is that the Republican condemnation was grounded in facts. They read the advertisement, and anyone can read it, and they disapproved of it. These 41 signed a letter of condemnation for a specific segment of a radio program that they never bothered to hear, because if they had, they'd know that the letter was based on a total misrepresentation of the facts. That makes them fools, and worthy of the ridicule that Rush selling it on Ebay offers. The price tag is a measure of how ridiculous the public finds it to be.

i admire Traitor Harry (he pronounced as unlawful aliens "undocumented individuals" - that an @ss). i've got heard him pronounced as grimy Harry yet that insulting to Clint Eastwood. Harry exchange into an @ss correct to the remark Rush made. the two Harry, the twit, did not study the finished remark or he was hoping others hadn't study it and can purely blindly persist with Reid. Rush handed Harry his head! Hooray for Rush! EDIT: howdy human beings. It exchange into assume to be nicknames for Harry Reid, not Rush! study the question dudes.

I think its funny + a wonderful Idea...Rush is doing a wonderful thing by giving the $$ to that Charity. I find even more hilarious that the dems had nothing better to do besides sign some dumb petition to stop someone from exercising their "freedom of speech" right when I hear all the time (from the dems) that they love free speech--I suppose they only love it when it pertains to them....

I am sure it has been done before. It's just the times have changed and to try and silence any one is nearly impossible.
He is definitely making lemon aid out of Reid and company. Especially with matching funds deal.

Rush is a jackass.... but he should be allowed to say whatever the hell he wants as long as his employer (radio) doesn't mind..
I support free speech whether I agree with it or not.
Same goes for the Republican condemnation of the MoveOn ad.
