Older 'live' recordings from the 70s and early 80s are much much better than the live recordings since, because now they 'touch up' the live concerts so much in the studio that it might as well just be a studio recording. Live is only great when you get the good, the bad and the ugly all rolled up in one package. Pearl Jam released all their live cds the old traditional way without all the studio-added reverb, echo and 'applause' inserts added to most modern live recordings. Listen to Cheap Trick's Live At Budakan or Bob Seger's Live Bullet for a REAL live recording with the sounds of the actual audience and NOT a studio audience.
On another note, I love it when a band makes a studio album as a band instead of recording each part seperately and then mixing it together. When the whole band plays at the same time you get a different 'feel' than when they record seperately.

i like the crystal-sparkling high quality of his his studio albums. On a good sound equipment, you need to swear that he became into interior the room with you. yet his stay performances contained a lot greater capability and intense enjoying. like the poster above me reported, i would not call something SRV performed as lame. i'm no longer a David Bowie fan, so i do no longer generally evaluate SRV's artwork on Bowie's album as a real account of SRV's musical creativity. returned to the element, I rejoice with the stay performances as a lot via fact the studio variations. i think of you pay attention the organic capability of his enjoying once you pay attention to his stay performances. I seen the El Mocambo dvd some years returned, it replaced my life.
